About Us Our lawyers average 25 years in practice. We do other things besides Family Law - real estate, probate, contracts - a general practice. But, we specialize in family problems and resolutions. Our practice is limited to Northern Connecticut: Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, Windham, Tolland, and New London counties. It generally wouldn't make economic sense for you to hire us to travel out of our area of practice. The charge for travel time alone would be prohibitve. Mediation We will mediate a divorce, that is, we will offer advice to both parties, explain the law and the most likely result, given your particular situation, and help to craft a settlement agreement that is fair to all parties. Uncontested Divorces If you and your spouse have come to an agreement as to alimony, custody, child support, and property/debt division, we will put that agreement into written form suitable for presentation to a court. Contested Divorces If you feel that you and your spouse cannot come to an agreement, or if you have tried and are still poles apart, we can represent you in obtaining a result that is fair to you. Rates If your divorce is truly uncontested; that is, if you have all issues (custody, child support, alimony, property division, etc.) agreed upon, we can get you divorced for under $1200 plus costs - costs being $225.00 court filing fee; $25.00 for each copy of the divorce judgment, $45.00 - $50.00 for the sheriff to serve the papers (more if it has to be published in a newspaper or if the papers have to be served out of state), and for $100.00 for a parenting program, if minor children are involved. For a contested divorce, including one that begins as uncontested, but becomes contested during the process, our hourly rate is $250.00, billed monthly, with the retainer amount to be discussed after we have had a free initial consultation.
